Luminary Night - December 1st

It hard to believe, but luminary night is almost here! Sand will be delivered to the pool parking lot on Friday. If you forgot to order your kits, you can get them Friday and place a check in the drop box to pay for them. $3 per set of 10 bags and 10 candles. Candles will be lit at sunset. As always, we can use assistants to set up and light the ones one the parkway. Please come out to enjoy this December tradition with your neighbors.

New Directors Elected at 2012 Annual Meeting

A big thanks from the DCCA Board of Directors for all of you who turned in your ballots/proxies or attended the meeting. We had both a great turnout and quorum, so we were able to hold the election. The winners were Susan Sonberg and Eric Butler.

Your Ballot/Proxy Is Needed!

If you will not be attending the Downing Creek Annual Meeting on Monday evening, please turn in your ballot/proxy ASAP! These need to go to the dropbox by the pool since there is no time left to mail them. Based on the ballots returned so far, we do not yet have quorum, and of course we never know how many to expect at the meeting.

DCCA Annual Meeting, 6:15pm, May 14, 2012 at the Friday Center

The Downing Creek annual meeting is the time we elect new Director's to oversee the neighborhood, fill you in on what's been happening in the last year, and give you a chance to ask questions. This year we have elected to hold it at The Friday Center (UNC-Chapel Hill) on May 14, at 6:15pm. (Doors open at 6pm.) All Downing Creek property owners are encouraged to attend the meeting, but we ask that if you cannot attend, then please return the ballot/proxy which was mailed to you by noon the day of the meeting. Follow the link for the full announcement and candidate statements.

County Commissioners' Candidates Forum

The InterNeighborhood Council of Durham has organized a County Commissioners' Candidates Forum for Wednesday, March 28, from 6:45 to 9:00 P.M. at the North Carolina Central School of Education Auditorium. All fourteen candidates for Durham County Commissioner have agreed to participate that evening. Doors will open at 6:30 PM.

All five Commissioner seats are up for election this year, and, because there are only Democratic candidates running, the Democratic May primary may be tantamount to election. Bob Ashley,
